During my studies, I worked as a Research Assistant (RA) at the Arts Digital Lab (ADL). That experience didn’t just support me financially after graduating from MADS, it was the bridge that took me from being a student to being an employable professional.

The Arts Digital Lab invites you to join us for this celebration of Digital Research in the Faculty of Arts, at which recipients of the 2025 Arts Digital Seed Fund will present on their research.
Tuesday 10 February 2026. Prospective applicants for the 2026 Faculty of Arts Digital Research Seed Fund are invited to attend this workshop to discuss and develop your proposal ideas, ask questions about the fund and application process, and get advice from last year’s recipients and the ADL team.
The Arts Digital Lab invites applications for the 2026 Faculty of Arts Digital Research Seed Fund. Successful applications will receive funding for up to 200 hours of research assistant time, along with project support and advice from the Arts Digital Lab.
We welcome applications from researchers across the Faculty of Arts, including postdoctoral fellows and staff in non-continuing roles. Up to five projects will be funded by the Faculty in 2026, with an additional project funded by QuakeCoRE CEISMIC.
Like all newcomers to New Zealand past and present, I’ve sought to find my place in the land of the long white cloud. But, preoccupied with the coursework for a Master in Strategic Communication at the University of Canterbury, there wasn’t really much time to ponder my place – a student from the Philippines – in this bicultural society.
