Seminar cancelled due to illness
This month’s Digital Humanities Research Network meetup will be held in Elsie Locke 313, 1-2 pm, Thursday 24 October.
Josh Wilson-Black will present a report from the recent two-day workshop “Quantitative Studies of Philosophy” in which a variety of exciting digital humanities projects in philosophy were presented. He’ll describe some of the work which was presented, including his own (supported by an Arts Digital Research Seed Fund). There’s corpus building, topic modelling, laborious creation of ground truth corpora, and creation of networks from textual mentions, citations and acknowledgements. These tools were applied across a range of philosophical traditions and historical eras and to contemporary philosophy.
The DHRN is a group of staff and students who share an interest in Digital Humanities research. The network meets monthly for seminars, workshops, and more informal discussions, with the aim of sharing ideas, skills and experience. The network also has a Teams space, which is used for discussion outside the monthly meetups, plus notices about upcoming events and opportunities. To join the DHRN, contact Chris Thomson or Kaspar Middendorf.
